Our Homilist and Presider

 

 

Fr. Patrick Brennan is the Director of Mission Integration and Pastoral Care at The Clare at Water Tower, a senior residential community in downtown Chicago, and serves part-time at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Parish in Naperville, Illinois.  He is also the Director of the National Center for Evangelization & Parish Renewal.  He was the pastor of Holy Family Roman Catholic Church in Inverness, Illinois, a large and vibrant parish outside of Chicago, for over fourteen years, where he created a convergence model of ministry with eight divisions and 140 individual ministries, all focused on evangelization.

 

 For more than a decade, Fr. Brennan was also the Director of the Office of Evangelization for the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Chicago, where he developed innovative renewal programs for local churches. He is an expert in the field of evangelization and church renewal and has acted as a consultant throughout the United States, as well as with dioceses in Canada, Ireland, Germany, Great Britain, and Australia.   He also serves on the faculty of the Institute of Pastoral Studies at Loyola University Chicago and Dominican University in River Forest, in addition to several other academic institutions.  Fr. Brennan is a psychotherapist and the host of a weekly radio and cable program, "Horizons." He is the author of more than fifteen books including The Way of Forgiveness, The Mission Driven Parish, Re-Imagining Evangelization, Parishes That Excel, Re-Imagining the Parish, and Paschal Journey.

 

 

Pax Joliet Awards 

 

Each year during the Peace Day celebrations we take time to honor members of the our community noted for their work in pursuit of peace and social justice.

 

The Pax Joliet Award is given to an individual of or from the Joliet Diocese who:

  • seeks peace and justice through non-violent means
  • demonstrates a long term commitment or extraordinary efforts in promoting the Gospel of peace and justice
  • exhibits a lifestyle of righteousness and integrity - seeking to live in peace and justice in all relationships
  • maintains a deep concern for people in opposition, even in the midst of the conflict that often accompanies the struggle for justice.

The Pax Joliet Awards for 2010 will go to: Ron and Mary Ellen Durbin of St. Joan of Arc Parish in Lisle and the Peoples Resource Center, Fr. Joel Fortier, pastor of St. Thomas the Apostle Parish in Naperville, Kathleen McGowan, retiring Executive Director of the Joliet Diocese Catholic Charities, and Bill and Joyce Ruhaak, Sacred Heart Parish in Joliet and the Peace and Social Justice Ministry
