| Urge Rep Hyde to support Secure America and Orderly Immigration Act
Forwarded from the ICIRR
Everyone:
ICIRR joined in a meeting with Rep. Hyde's office last week regarding immigration reform. Rep. Hyde's staff informed us that they are getting no messages of support for immigration reform that includes a path to citizenship for the undocumented. At the same time, the office is receiving hundreds of calls and letters OPPOSING comprehensive immigration reform. We need to make Rep. Hyde hear OUR side of this issue.
Please call or write to Rep. Hyde to urge him to support the Secure America and Orderly Immigration Act, sponsored by Reps. Kolbe, Flake, and Gutierrez. Please forward this message to anyone you know who lives in Rep. Hyde's district (which includes most of DuPage County and some parts of northwest Cook County). A sample letter is below. You can mail or fax your letter to Rep. Hyde's office (fax 630 832-5969). You can also send Rep. Hyde an email through the Take Action section of ICIRR's website, www.icirr.org.
Thanks.

Dear Representative Hyde:
I am writing to urge your support for the Secure America and Orderly Immigration Act, the comprehensive immigration reform legislation introduced by US Senators McCain and Kennedy and US Reps. Kolbe, Gutierrez, and Flake on May 12. This bill (S. 1033 and H.R. 2330) represents a sensible, bipartisan approach to fixing our broken immigration system. This legislation would reunite families, enable immigrants to earn the right to live in the US and become citizens, provide a safe, orderly channel for future willing workers to come to the US, and offer realistic enforcement strategies to secure our borders and reassert the rule of law. This bill is supported by the US Conference of Catholic Bishops and other faith communities, business, labor, immigrant advocates, and leaders among both political parties. In addition, a recent poll found that 77% of respondents supported immigration reform along these lines.
We urge you to cosponsor S. 1033 and H.R. 2330. Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely
(Your name and address) |
