Update
on HB 4100
March
1, 2004
HB 4100, the Rental Housing Support Program legislation, would have created more than 4000 units of affordable housing for very-low-income households in Illinois.
The bill has broad-based, bi-partisan, support from 33 State Representatives, the Illinois Association of Realtors, Mayor Daley, and 140 organizations from throughout the state.
The bill was killed in the House last week because House Speaker Michael Madigan prevented the bill from moving out of the Rules Committee. Speaker Madigan has not stated the nature of his opposition.
We are calling on Speaker Madigan to allow the bill to move forward and to allow it to be debated on its merits.
