Subject: Death Penalty Abolition Day 2005
Join us for Death Penalty Abolition Lobby Day in Springfield- Wednesday,
April 13, 2005
Together, we can end the Death Penalty. Illinois' debate over the death penalty has intensified in the opening months of 2005. The appointment of a death penalty reform study committee, the release of The Illinois Coalition to Abolish the Death Penalty's annual report, and the introduction of multiple bills affecting the state's death penalty have helped to push our struggle to a critical juncture. In this vein, ICADP, in conjunction with Amnesty International, will be holding its annual Lobby Day in Springfield on Wednesday, April 13, 2005.
Please join us as we bring the abolition message to our state representatives and make visible its vast support among diverse groups, unified in their opposition to the death penalty.
Transportation from Chicago: A chartered bus will leave from the front of Amnesty International's building (53 W. Jackson- at the intersection of Jackson and Dearborn) at 6:30 am, with stops planned in Joliet and Bloomington-Normal. We ask that each passenger make a $10-15 donation to help pay for the cost of the bus. Contact the Coalition by phone (312-849-2279) or email (info@icadp.org) for more information regarding transportation and carpooling.
