Illinois HB 214
Protect Illinois Wildlife Areas
Issue: House
Bill 214 - fund the re-instatement of 89 positions
at Illinois Department of Natural Resources.
Background:
House Bill 214 proposes to fund the re-instatement
of 89 positions at Illinois Department of Natural
Resources by using excess funds from the Wildlife
and Fish Fund, which is supported by hunting and fishing
license fees from Illinois’ sportsmen and women. With
the loss of these 89 positions many wildlife areas
will have to severely cut both hours that they’re
open and programs offered. Many educational programs
will have to be cut out entirely.
Catholic Social Teaching “The goods of the earth are gifts from God, and they are intended by God for the benefit of everyone. We have a responsibility to care for these goods as stewards and trustees not as mere consumers and users.” By cutting these positions, we not only are jeopardizing our ability to care for these goods but also our ability to educate future generations so they too will learn to care for these goods.
