Rental Housing Support Program AND School Breakfasts UPDATES

HB 626, The Rental Housing Support Program, passed the Senate yesterday, with a vote of 33-22-1. A few amendments were made to the bill since November, including returning the surcharge fee on recorded documents to $10 (instead of $11), exempting public utilities from the surcharge, and putting a cap on administrative costs. The bill must now go back to the House for concurrence with HB 626, since the House passed a different version of the program in November. However, the Speaker's office has indicated that the Speaker will not call the bill for a vote. Therefore, we will need to continue our efforts during the new legislative session (which begins tomorrow).
Also, HB 756, is the most recent bill regarding School Breakfasts. This bill passed the Senate yesterday with a vote of 33-23, and contained an amendment that would allow school districts to opt out of the mandate under certain circumstances. Again, this bill must go back to the House for concurrence.
