UPDATE: RENTAL HOUSING SUPPORT PROGRAM
ADDITIONAL OPPORTUNITY TO PASS LEGISLATION
CREATING PROGRAM BEFORE END OF CURRENT SESSION
Late Wednesday afternoon, organizations working on the Rental Housing
Support Program in Springfield and our main legislative allies
collectively came to the conclusion that the Rental Housing Support
Program was a couple of votes shy of having enough support to pass the
Illinois Senate. Therefore, we did not call the bill for a vote.
Between now and the end of December, our allies in the state legislature
are going to work with us to negotiate some, hopefully minor, amendments
to the Rental Housing Support Program with key legislators who do not
currently support the bill. If all parties come to an agreement, we will
have the opportunity to pass the bill through the House and the Senate
on January 10 and 11. These two days are considered part of the current
legislative session, but are generally not used to pass major
legislation.
We will send additional updates and alerts as new information arises. In
the meantime, feel free to contact us for additional information.
Thanks!
