Call Your Senators Today
Ask them to defend the Clean Air Act!

Thursday, June 10, the Senate will vote on SJ Res. 26, Sen. Lisa Murkowski's (R-AK) resolution which rejects a rule submitted by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) related to the endangerment finding. If passed, Murkowski's resolution essentially would strip the EPA of its ability to protect the health and welfare of U.S. citizens from greenhouse gas pollution.

Tell your senators to defend the Clean Air Act and vote NO on SJ 26!

Background: Last year, just before the International Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen, the EPA, following up on a Supreme Court ruling of 2007, determined that emissions of greenhouse gases form new motor vehicles cause or contribute to air pollution that endangers public health or welfare. This "endangerment finding" triggered a federal requirement for the EPA to regulate fossil fuel emissions under the Clean Air Act.

Murkowski's resolution disapproves the rule submitted by the EPA relating to the endangerment finding and negates the EPA's rule and its authority to regulate greenhouse gas emissions. SJ Res 26 would ignore and override internationally accepted scientific findings.

Passage of this resolution would essentially gut the Clean Air Act which is the only U.S. vehicle available to crack down on polluters, and would delay our transition to a clean energy economy that will tackle climate change.

Tell your senator to defend the Clean Air Act and protect our chance to build a clean energy future by voting NO on SJ Res. 26 today. Call the Capitol switchboard at 202-224-3121 to connect to your senators' offices, or check www.senate.gov for the direct lines.
