Action Alert from:
U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops and Catholic Relief Services
June 24, 2009
The House of Representatives will soon, perhaps as soon as Friday, vote on significant climate change legislation, the American Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009, that could help or hurt the poor.
Please contact your networks and members of Congress now and urge them to significantly increase the funding resources allocated for international adaptation programs so that people living in poverty around the world can be protected from the effects of climate change.
Read the Action Alert and a recent letter sent by Bishop Howard Hubbard, Chairman of the Bishops' Committee on International Justice and Peace, and Ken Hackett, President of Catholic Relief Services, to members of Congress outlining our concerns.
Thank you for your leadership and continued commitment to caring for God's creation and the needs of the most vulnerable among us.
