Build Just Policy toward Latin America

Forwarded from the Chicago Religious Leadership Network

Dear CRLN Members & Friends,

Now is the time to call for change!  The new administration of President-elect Obama and the 111th Congress need to hear from YOU about the changes must be made to U.S. policies toward Latin America.  From calling for an end to the embargo against Cuba and to unjust trade deals, to advocating for the demilitarization of U.S. policy and respect for the sovereignty of emerging alternative democracies throughout the hemisphere, your voice matters!  With that said, we write to you with two requests:

  1. Sign a petition to President-elect Obama!  The Latin America Working Group (LAWG), CRLN’s primary partner organization in Washington DC, is circulating a petition to encourage our next president to build a just policy towards Latin America that unites us with our neighbors.  LAWG will deliver the petition to President Obama on January 21, 2009 and the goal is to reach 10,000 signers!  To sign this petition, and to pass it along to your family and friends, click here: http://salsa.democracyinaction.org/o/625/t/1707/p/dia/action/public/?action_KEY=333&tag=obama_website

  1. Join CRLN’s Public Policy Delegation to DC!  With a new administration and Congress that at long last offers hope for real change, CRLN invites YOU to join us at this historic moment as we meet with key staffers from the offices of our Senators & Representatives from Illinois and urge them to build more just and peaceful U.S. policies toward Latin America.  Register today!  To register and learn more about CRLN’s Public Policy Delegation to DC, click here: http://www.crln.org/Advocacy_Days_2009

We hope you’ll join us for both of these exciting opportunities to call for a new direction for U.S. policies – one that is peaceful, just, and respects human rights in the Americas!
