Catholic Social Teaching challenges us to make the needs of the poor a priority. Nationwide, many have difficulty in finding affordable housing. Following is an alert from Illinois Housing Roundtable concerning funding for a National Housing Trust Fund to create affordable housing.

Important National Housing Trust Fund Vote on May 17-18
Support H.R. 1427, GSE Regulatory Reform Legislation
The House is expected to take up H.R. 1427 on May 17 and 18.
The bill contains a provision to reserve $500 million a year from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac as a dedicated source of funding for the National Housing Trust Fund. Call Your Representative and urge him/her to:
Vote YES on H.R. 1427.
Vote NO on any amendment that would remove the Affordable Housing Fund from the legislation, not allow the money to be transferred into a National Housing Trust Fun, or that would send the bill back to the Committee.
