The Peace and Social Justice Ministry seeks to promote the Gospel of peace and social justice through its programs and ministries, locally, nationally, and globally. It serves as a partner and resource for parishes to help them discover creative ways to engage in the struggle for justice.

Welcome!

Thanks for taking the time to visit PaxJoliet.org. As of July 1, the Peace and Social Justice Ministry has been renamed Justice and Peace and is now a part of the newly created Office for Human Dignity along with Respect Life and Missions. You may learn more about this on the frontpage of our news section.

Over the coming weeks you will see a major redesign of this website as we incorporate the various ministries of the newly created Office for Human Dignity. Respect Life Ministry and the Pontifical Mission Societies will be migrated here in due order. In the meatime, we will do our best through this website to continue to offer you the resources and information to help you in your social justice ministry.

Justice and Peace seeks to promote the gospel of peace and social justice through its programs and ministries, locally, nationally, and globally. With the information and resources provided on this website, we hope you will be challenged to discover creative ways to engage in the struggle for justice.

A good place to begin is with a visit to our News Page. Simply click the PSJ News tab above and check out all our latest news, upcoming events, guest columnists, and special features. After you've read the news, be sure you to click over to the Legislative Advocacy Department (see lefthand column). Read the latest action alerts and be sure to sign up for the Legislative Advocacy Network. Then you will want to explore all our other departments where you will discover the many programs we offer to help your parish in the quest to reveal the Reign of God.

In the Spotlight:

The Office for Human Dignity is in the process of reconstituting the diocesan Care for God's Creation (CGC) Committee. The Care for God's Creation Committee will ideally have a representative from every parish and university in the diocese at its monthly meeting. During these meetings we discuss different environmental issues here in the Diocese of Joliet, throughout the state of Illinois, those that are taking place in the United States, and matters occurring internationally.

Please e-mail kestrada@dioceseofjoliet.org for more info on the CGC Committee.

Remember, "If you want peace, work for justice!"
